Early Music at Mideast Workshop 

Class & Ensemble Description

Technique Classes
Enroll for recorderviol or flute as primary instrument;  harp, voice  viol. recorder as secondary instruments. You may attend more than one secondary instrument class as your schedule allows.  Recorder classes for lower intermediate, intermediate, upper intermediate and advanced levels.

Consorts & Ensembles
All-Workshop Ensemble
instruments & voices;  Coached Consorts - assigned according to playing level with emphasis on ensemble techniques;  Renaissance Band - large multi-choir group for recorders, capped reeds, viols;  Medieval Collegium - (Title to be announced);   Informal after hours playing (we can assist you in finding a group).

Special Topic Classes
Bass Class - All sizes of bass recorders in ensemble. Bigger is better! 
Voice Class -
For those who like to sing,  as well as singers. Variety of literature.
Harp Ensemble - players with some experience.
Harp-for-Novice - Hands on opportunity to try harp without owning an instrument.
Medieval Fiddle-for-Novice - As above: opportunity to try fiddle without owning an instrument.
English Country Dance - learn the dances to accompaniment of a live band!

 MiniSeries -  
Monday
- Overview of era of the Theme. This session will be  combined with the All-Workshop Ensemble.

Other Activities
Master Class -
participate as performer or auditor (solo and ensemble)  
English Country Dance - open to novice and experienced ; 
Playing with Harpsichord Sign-up -
explore Baroque music with able assistance of harpsichordist Chris Ramse;  
White Elephant Benefit - sale of music, used instruments,  CDs, books and other music related items donated by students and faculty for benefit of the  workshop scholarship fund  
Faculty Concert;  Student Concerts:  Friday Night Student Concert  and Ad-Hoc Student Concert  (volunteer student performances by spontaneous groups)


The Early Music Shop of New England  is in residence for music and instrument browsing and buying
Harps for Early Music by Lynne Lewandowski in residence.
